Commvault Signs Microsoft Partner SoftwareONE As First Metallic MSP

‘SoftwareONE is the first to offer backup-as-a-service via white-label. It will be branded as SoftwareONE, and the value will be through SoftwareONE. We have integrated Metallic into the SoftwareONE system so customers feel it’s from SoftwareONE,’ says Manoj Nair, general manager Commvault’s Metallic business.

Commvault has signed up one of the world’s largest Microsoft channel partners, SoftwareONE, as its first partner to offer its Metallic SaaS data protection technology as a fully managed service.

Under the new partnership, SoftwareONE will deliver Metallic-based solutions via the SoftwareONE BackupSimple cloud-based managed service offering, said Matt Showers, global business owner for managed cloud at the Switzerland-based reseller, which has U.S. headquarters in Waukesha, Wisc.

With the partnership, SoftwareONE becomes the first global partner for Commvault Metallic, said Manoj Nair, general manager for the Tinton Falls, N.J.-based vendor’s Metallic business.

SoftwareONE was ranked No. 17 in CRN’s 2021 Solution Provider 500 list.

Metallic was launched in 2019, and earlier this year was expanded via a channel program aimed specifically at MSPs, Nair told CRN.

With SoftwareONE, Metallic will be taken to customers under a partners’ logo for the first time, with Commvault providing the services and training SoftwareONE sales and support people to sell and deliver them, he said.

“We’ve been going through several partners worldwide, including SoftwareONE in a reseller capacity,” he said. “But SoftwareONE is the first to offer backup-as-a-service via white-label. It will be branded as SoftwareONE, and the value will be through SoftwareONE. We have integrated Metallic into the SoftwareONE system so customers feel it’s from SoftwareONE.”

Commvault is a long-time exclusive data protection partner of SoftwareONE, Showers said.

“Metallic allows us to give customers the security blanket they need to know they can go to the cloud without worrying about whether their data can be recovered,” he said. “Data protection issues today are a question of ‘when,’ not ‘if.’ Commvault Metallic lets us scale customer protection in the background.”
