Ingram Micro unveiled new cybersecurity initiatives at its Ingram Micro One conference in Washington, D.C., including new relationships with two vendors in the managed security services space. “At Ingram we’ve got an amazing portfolio of security solutions, but some of the things we are seeing are user-driven. What I mean by that is that our security awareness posture isn’t as high as it should be,” said Eric Kohl, Ingram Micro’s VP of Security. Kohl says that’s why Ingram has boosted its security portfolio with relationships with Cofence, Mimecast and Proofpoint.

“We’re taking a partner-first strategy. We just announced new relationships with Arctic Wolf Networks and Binary Defense. Both of these companies offer managed protection and response or security operations center (SOC), so that these folks who are MSPs and didn’t have that capability – well now they have that,” said Kohl.

Partners like James Rocker, CEO and President of Nerds that Care in Bohemia, N.Y., agreed that those kind of initiatives are what small businesses need.

“They have a tremendous portfolio like penetration testing, social engineering and ethical hacking. These are solutions that are especially hard for a small business to stand up when you are only 10, 20 employees,” said Rocker.

Ingram also launched the Ingram Micro Security Practice Builder Program in 2019. The platform will align the nine security domains from the Security Scope to the widely adopted NIST Framework: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond. From there, it will build and aggregate content, resources, and partner enablement efforts to help Ingram’s partners strengthen specific domain areas.
