NTT Data Services will acquire a small AWS premier consulting partner, Flux7, in a move to expand and accelerate its ability to help clients bring their IT workloads to the cloud.

NTT Data Services, the Plano, Tex.-based global services arm of Japan-based NTT Data, on Tuesday said it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Austin, Tex.-based Flux7 for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition is slated to close before December 31.

Flux7's business is closely aligned with the enterprise cloud focus of NTT Data Services, said Emily Lewis-Pinnell, vice president of cloud and application transformation, for NTT Data Services.

Flux7 has a major focus on Amazon Web Services, Lewis-Pinnell told CRN. The company is an AWS premier consulting partner with competencies in cloud migrations, DevOps, and security, she said.

Flux7 will be an important part of NTT Data Services' push into multi-cloud environments, particularly for enterprise customers looking to optimize their IT infrastructures to take advantage of cloud-native capabilities, Lewis-Pinnell said.

"We're not talking about lift-and-shift to the cloud," she said. "It's a focus on helping customers transform and optimize applications for the cloud. This is something that we have already. Flux7 will help expand and accelerate those capabilities."

NTT Data Services currently works with all the major public clouds, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and IBM Cloud in North America, along with others outside the continent, Lewis-Pinnell said.

"Flux7 increases the number of experts we have focused on AWS," she said.

Flux7 brings about 70 people, the majority of whom are customer-facing personnel, to Lewis-Pinnell's organization, she said.

NTT Data Services has grown both organically and via acquisitions, Lewis-Pinnell said.

"We look at areas where we can accelerate our cloud practice," she said. "We found Flux7 to be a good cultural fit."
