WATCH: Panasonic Tech Powers Everything From Harley Davidson’s Electric Bike To Colorado’s Roads

Panasonic is no longer just a hardware company. At CES 2019, Faisal Pandit, Panasonic’s senior vice president and chief digital officer, discussed how the company has put a new focus on B2B capabilities.

“With the focus on IoT and big data analysis and things of that nature, there’s an increasing shift in the marketplace from hardware assets to more smart assets, where customers are asking for more than just the hardware capabilities. And that’s where Panasonic’s digital transformation comes into play,” said Pandit.

One example where you can see this at work is in Colorado’s smart cities, where Panasonic has launched CIRUSS, a scalable product offering for intelligent transportation. It uses cloud analytics to deliver real-time road conditions and other safety information to the Department of Transportation and travelers.

Panasonic also showed off the future of food and retail at CES, like its smart locker known as The Last Mile Hub. In collaboration with food safety and quality consulting services firm Hussmann, the technology offers delivery tracking, temperature control and indicator lights to identify a customer’s purchase.

And then there’s the new electric bike by Harley Davidson, the first by the company. Panasonic’s technology connects the motorcycle to a rider’s smartphone through the Harley Davidson app. From there, the rider can check battery status, the bike’s location, and even get alerts if someone has bumped into or moved the bike.
