WATCH: Lenovo NA President Sheds Light On New ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Lenovo unveiled the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon at CES 2019. Lenovo’s North America President of PCs and Smart Devices Matt Zielinski discussed what’s changed in an interview with CRNtv.

The first visible difference is the new design options. The X1 Carbon is not only thinner and lighter, but it also includes a visible carbon fiber weave top cover.

Plus, Zielinski says the new ThinkPad is the ultimate Skype device. It has the Dolby Atmos Speaker System with four far-field mics. Previously the speakers were only underneath the device. The new laptop keeps two speakers there, but also has two near the keyboard.

On the security front, the X1 Carbon has ThinkShutter, a built-in cover that slides over the HD and IR cameras. It also has ThinkPad Privacy Guard that shields your screen so that others can’t see it. That feature will automatically turn on if anyone is looking at your screen.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon will start from $1709 and is expected to be available starting in June 2019. Watch CRNtv’s video for more coverage.
