This Technology Could Be The End Of Nosebleed Seats

DXC Technology showcases new offerings that use augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial intelligence to transform fan engagement at live events.

You might not want to pay top dollar for front-row seats after learning what DXC Technology has in the works.

“Fans have the opportunity to put on VR goggles and experience the race from the best seat in the house,” says Gary Stockman, chief marketing officer at DXC.

Since 2017, DXC has provided Penske, an American auto racing team, with digital offerings. Recently, the company has turned its attention to fan engagement as seen during the Indy Car Race in June, when fans got the chance to take a walk behind the scenes and even join a virtual pit crew during a tire change thanks to innovations in augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

“We want to become the transformer of the enterprise, but modern IT is not the end goal of enterprises. What they want to do is differentiate or disrupt within their industry and they are recognizing in order to do that they have to transform their business,” said Dan Hushon, chief technology officer at DXC.

Another way DXC is disrupting fan engagement for Penske is with its new DXC Drive app. The app uses DXC’s AI engine to lets fans compete in race simulations on their mobile devices.

“What we’ve found is that people use the app and understand what makes an Indy car fast and what it takes to win in a way they never have before,” said Hushon. “So, we are actually seeing huge amounts of interest in DXC Drive and our ability to apply it not just to car racing, but to other sports. That’s what we want our enterprises to go through.”

This innovation comes as DXC has strengthened its partnerships with all three of the major cloud providers. Most recently, DXC Tuesday unveiled a partnership with Google Cloud, which includes a Google Cloud Platform Center of Excellence and a Google Cloud AI Center of Excellence to provide clients with scalable cloud-based digital platforms that leverage data analytics.
