APC by Schneider Electric is striving to become a leader in edge computing with its new 6U micro data center that provides massive margin opportunities for channel partners.

The West Kingston, R.I.-based data center power management specialist recently unveiled its EcoStruxure Micro Data Center C-Series 6U wall mount that brings together power, cooling, racks and management purpose-built for edge environments. Key to the new micro data center’s success is channel partners, said Chelsie Ritarossi, channel marketing manager for APC by Schneider Electric, which is why the company is offering “big margins” for solution providers.

“If you are familiar with our channel partner program, we do have an Opportunity Registration Program this falls into that is eligible for double-digit discounts when registered in our program,” said Ritarossi in an interview with CRN at XChange 2020, hosted by CRN parent The Channel Company.

APC by Schneider Electric, which made CRN’s Hottest Data Center Companies in 2020 list, is differentiating itself at the edge with a partner-led strategy.

“It’s great for all of these edge deployments that we’ve been seeing in the market,” said Ritarossi. “It’s very secure. It comes with our NetBotz products when fully deployed, so it allows you to be able to see if people are trying to get into the rack. Also from a filtration systems [perspective], we’ve put in some extra dust filtration because we understand these edge deployments will sometimes be where people aren’t traditionally.”

The 6U wall mount is designed for edge computing where space is at a premium and resiliency is a must, allowing for large edge servers, networking equipment and UPSes to be safely mounted on a wall. It consumes zero floor space and is 60 percent less intrusive than traditional wall-mount enclosures, according to Ritarossi.

The micro data center’s shock packaging means partners can preinstall IT for quick and standardized rollouts, and its integrated dust filter and fan ventilation make it ideal for light industrial environments.

“It’s one of a kind,” said Ritarossi.

The EcoStruxure Micro Data Center C-Series 6U wall mount is now generally available for partners to sell on a global basis.
