Cloud CRM application vendor Salesforce will lose President and Chief Strategy Officer Gavin Patterson next year, according to a regulatory filing.

In a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last week, the San Francisco-based company said Patterson’s last day with the company will be Jan. 31, 2023. CRN has reached out to Patterson (pictured) for comment.

A Salesforce spokesperson said to CRN in an email that “We are grateful for Gavin‘s many contributions and wish him the very best.”

Patterson has worked at Salesforce for more than three years. In August his role changed to chief strategy officer from his earlier title of chief revenue officer.

He previously worked at telecommunications company BT for more than 15 years, leaving with the title of group chief executive, according to his LinkedIn account.

Patterson helped oversee one of Salesforce’s “most rapid growth periods” during his two-year period as CRO, Salesforce co-founder and co-CEO MarcBenioff said in August during the company’s most recent quarterly earnings call. Salesforce’s earnings call for its fiscal 2023 third quarter is scheduled for Nov. 30.

In June, Salesforce reported that Patterson is among the most highly compensated executives at the company. He received about $1.02 million in base salary, $6 million in stock awards and about $6 million in option awards in fiscal 2022. He received about $1 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation.

Benioff, by comparison, received a base salary of $1.55 million in fiscal 2022, about $13.5 million in stock awards and about $9 million in option awards, according to Salesforce. Benioff received $3.1 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation and about $1.45 million in “all other compensation.”

Patterson isn’t the only executive who is departing from Salesforce. Julie Bennani, channel chief of Salesforce subsidiary Tableau, exited the company in October as the company worked to combine its separate partner programs.

Earlier this month, Salesforce confirmed plans to lay off hundreds of workers by the Thanksgiving holiday as technology vendors feel the effects of the slowing economy.
