Google Cloud lost its CFO with the departure of Steffan Tomlinson, who has taken the CFO position at Mountain View, Calif.-based Confluent, an enterprise event streaming platform provider – an announcement also made today.

A Google Cloud spokesperson confirmed Bonanno will join Google on Aug.17 and report to Ruth Porat, CFO of Google and parent company Alphabet.

Bonanno started at Palo Alto Networks in 2014 as vice president of finance, before becoming senior vice president of finance in late 2016.

"Kathy has presided over our financial team during Palo Alto Networks' tremendous expansion into a multi-platform security company," Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora said in a statement. "She has chosen a close partner of ours for her next career step -- one I know very well, and that has equally amazing people. I would like to thank Kathy for her many contributions to our company and wish her the very best and continued success in her new role."

Prior to starting at Palo Alto Networks, Bonanno worked at the former Symantec security software company for almost eight years, most recently as vice president of financial planning and analysis.
