HPE has turned to sales chief Phil Davis to lead the company's Hybrid IT business group, and it is also saying goodbye to Pointnext leader Ana Pinczuk.

The changes were announced today in a blog post by CEO Antonio Neri.

Chief Sales Officer Davis has been the interim head of the Hybrid IT business group since it was established early this year. He'll officially become permanent head of the group Aug. 1.

"I am confident in Phil's ability to lead us in our next chapter given his customer-first, customer-last approach, which has proven to be hugely valuable," Neri wrote.

Davis has been with HPE since 2014, and chief sales officer since late last year. Before taking that position, he was vice president and general manager, storage, enterprise group, Asia Pacific and Japan, and later regional managing director and senior vice president, enterprise group, Asia Pacific and Japan, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The Hybrid IT group is made up of three business units: Hybrid IT Infrastructure; Software-Defined & Cloud; and the HPE Pointnext professional services business.

Pinczuk has led the Pointnext business since joining HPE early last year, and has guided partners through the adoption of its GreenLake Flex Capacity offering. Earlier this year, Pinczuk oversaw Pointnext's planned acquisition of British Azure cloud consulting provider RedPixie.

Pinczuk is leaving HPE "for new opportunities," Neri wrote. Neri credited Pinczuk with pivoting the HPE team to become more "customer-focused, outcome-led and people-driven."

"Ana was exactly the leader we needed to drive our HPE Pointnext organization as we pivoted the company to be services-led with a focus on consumption models and 'everything-as-a-service,'" Neri wrote.

Leadership of the other Hybrid IT business units – Hybrid IT Infrastructure leader Alain Andreoli; Software-Defined and Cloud leader Ric Lewis and Gobal Operations head Arun Chandra – remain in place.
