2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup USA Champions Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris—who are teammates on the National Women’s Soccer League Orlando Pride team—both gave a championship shout-out to D&H and its co-owner employees at the grand opening of the distributor’s new Harrisburg, Pa., headquarters.

Krieger, a former soccer star for the Penn State Nittany Lions, said she sees paralells between what it takes to be a champion on the field and in business with D&H.

“D&H has the culture, leadership and team of employees to take on anything, embrace change, persevere and create amazing experiences just like this one today,” she told those gathered for the grand opening of the D&H campus. “When you love what you do and you are surrounded by people who have the same heart and passion, it makes the memories and milestones that much better to celebrate. I am happy to be here to congratulate the D&H team on their new headquarters, which is so beautiful—a place where they can continue to foster partnerships and future successes. Thanks for having me.”

Harris, who was also an NCAA Women’s Soccer Champion with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, congratulated D&H on its recent 100th birthday.

“I can relate in a small way—not that I am in anywhere close to being 100 years old, but I can tell you my knees feel like that,” she said. “I too just celebrated my 100th game in the National Women’s Soccer League. You don’t reach milestones like these without hard work, integrity, humility, collaboration, determination and commitment. I actually call these people 1 percenters.”

Those 1 percenters are willing to “sacrifice everything for the success of the group and not for individual gains,” said Harris. “One percenters are willing to do the things that other people aren’t willing to do. And, most importantly, 1 percenters are willing to put the work in when no one else is watching.”

Harris said her former UNC Coach Anson Dorrance said it best: “The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching.”

“This is exactly what D&H has done through 10 decades,” said Harris. “They have paved the way for a never-ending ascension. They have given their employees the tools to succeed and the will to never give up. It is a pleasure to be here with Dan, Michael and all their incredible co-owners celebrating the opening of your new headquarters. This 101st year in business and now your new home is a testament to their hard work, passion, enthusiasm. Continue to strive to be 1 percenters. Congratulations!”
