WATCH: Two Mins With Melillo Consulting On Top Tech Bets

Melillo Consulting has navigated through a lot of changes during its 30 years in business, and right now digital transformation is the big one for the New Jersey company.

“Customers are questioning three things: Do I keep my infrastructure on-prem? Do I move into hybrid? Or, do I do a cloud-first strategy? And what we’re seeing is that most customers are trying to do all three things at the same time,” says Dan Sytsma, president of Melillo Consulting. Sytsma was featured on CRNtv’s “Two Mins” series, weighing in on the latest tech trends.

The total cost of computing is weighing heavily on today’s organizations, but Sytsma says hyper-converged infrastructure is making it easier to cut costs and boost performance. Melillo is an HPE Platinum Partner and a Dell EMC Platinum Partner.

“Our partners are bringing value to their hyper-converged solutions: the integration of server, storage network and rapidly being able to deploy other applications gives them advantages they didn’t have over the last few years vs. the consideration of moving all the applications into a public cloud environment,” he said.

The hyper-converged market skyrocketed to nearly $1.5 billion in sales during the second quarter of 2018, up a whopping 78 percent year over year, according to research firm IDC.

Sytsma also discussed the world of opportunities resulting from big data.

“The amount of data and the way it replicates itself and the way it’s expanding is faster than any of us can keep up. And I think the difference from a business perspective is going to be the customers who can truly harness the data and use it to have an impact on their business.”
