WATCH: HPE CEO Antonio Neri Talks Dell; Aruba’s Keerti Melkote Discusses Opportunity Around IoT

HPE CEO Antonio Neri took on Dell at The Channel Company’s Best of Breed Conference in Philadelphia. Neri told solution providers that HPE’s strategy has been “totally opposite” from Dell’s, explaining that HPE is pushing to get smaller and leaner while Dell’s portfolio is bigger and more complex. Plus, Neri said HPE has an advantage of Dell with its edge-to-cloud strategy, something that he says Dell lacks.

Neri sees the future of the enterprise as an edge-centric cloud-enabled enterprise. He said the edge represents the biggest opportunity for HPE, pointing out that “75 percent of the data is created at the edge and it starts with connectivity, security and, ultimately, how we process data in real time.” The tech giant will rely on its “partner-first” strategy to bring to market its edge-to-cloud architectures.

There’s a big opportunity for partners to sell Aruba, said Neri, who led HP’s acquisition of the company back in 2015. Aruba co-founder and General Manager Keerti Melkote told solution providers at BoB that services tied to edge software will create next-generation experiences for end users. He also discussed the role of IoT, which he called the next big wave.
