Pax8 Carves Out New Chief Revenue Officer Role For Heddy

Pax8 has carved out a new role for their vice president of sales and marketing, recasting him as the Chief Revenue Officer after an incredible 2018 that saw the born-in-the-cloud distributor grow by 400 percent.

“I was employee number 8,” Heddy told CRN. “The first sales guy that we had. It was tasked to me, ‘Hey Nick we might make you a manager one day if you can prove out this model.’ So I started making 80 calls a day, talking to partners before we had partners, before we had vendors, and so I’ve gotten the opportunity to grow with the company.”

Heddy has worked in indirect sales in technology and telecommunications for more than 14 years, Pax8 said. In a statement, the company lauded his “track record of delivering strong financial results, creative go-to-market campaigns, and profitable growth” in a highly-competitive market. Pax8 was ranked No. 68 on the 2018 Inc. 5000 list.

Heddy said he learned of the promotion during the company’s Christmas party, where he said he was “surprised” with the news. Heddy now takes over all revenue generating activity for the Greenwood Village, Colo.-based company, under CEO John Street.

“Nick is a proven leader who understands the rapidly changing landscape of our industry and how to motivate, recruit, and build a winning team,” Street said in a statement. “We created the CRO role for Nick because it is critical to maximizing revenue across all areas of our business. As we approach 2019, we look forward to the impact Nick and his team will make in achieving new aggressive growth targets.”

Heddy said that while last year was a banner year for the company, 2019 is poised to be just as big with Pax8 making a move into telecom, and reaching outside of the US into the international markets where they see a need for their highly integrated cloud products.

“In 2019 we are going to continue within the same channels that made us successful,” he said. “Microsoft is still reporting that they only see 21-percent adoption of Office 365 in the SMB market. We are 100-percent MSP and SMB focused, and so we are going to continue down that path. You will see us expand internationally in 2019. There are markets that are using the same PSA tools that we are in the U.S. and I think our integration gives us a leg up in those markets.”

With Gartner stating that MSPs consume 4.6 SaaS products on average, and 22 percent of them using as many as 16, Heddy said the MSP market is going to shift to the cloud through SaaS product adoption in 2019, he said.

“You are going to see this explosion of cloud adoption, but it’s not going to be through the typical channels,” he said. “Of course you’re going to see Amazon and Azure adoption, but I think that SaaS product adoption is going to absolutely explode this year and hopefully Pax8 is the catalyst to help that along.”
