Pax8 Adds Five Vendors To Cloud Lineup

Innovative cloud distributor Pax8 just boosted the offerings on its line card, adding five new companies, each geared towards security and data protection, said the company’s chief channel officer Ryan Walsh.

“This new group that we added is a really interesting mix,” Walsh told CRN. “They all came in the same way. We would go ask our partners and say, ‘Hey who should we look at. Who do you like?’ Managed security, and managed storage are two of the biggest growth areas in terms of managed services. We see that. Our partners would come to us and say ‘I really like your model, but I need another option. That’s what drove us.”

Each of the vendors brings a set of solutions to Pax8 Stax, providing MSPs with the ability to round out their technology stacks, expand cross-sell and up-sell opportunities, and elevate overall cloud adoption, the company said. The additions will be focused on the categories of security, business continuity, and cloud backup,.

“They give us more options and more coverage and each one of them has something that is unique in the way that they do it,” Walsh said. “One example of that is IRONSCALES. IRONSCALES has advanced anti-phishing capability. Now we have that. We have Symantec, and we’ve singed Proofpoint, so they give us great cover for email security. IRONSCALES can be sold complimentary to that because of what they do specifically in the inbox.”

Walsh said IRONSCALES uses AI to identify advanced phishing and spear-phishing attacks that make it into inbox, and gives users the ability to do something about it, once the email gets through.

With Passportal, another addition, MSPs get a simple yet secure password and documentation management tailored for their operation, Walsh said.

“Let’s say you have a technician, but then they leave,” Walsh said. “They have access to servers and multiple customers. How do you protect yourself, remove that access quickly when they move on?Even if its not malicious, you need to control that.”

The other additions are Acronis which offers cyber protection and hybrid cloud storage through its innovative backup, anti-ransomware, disaster recovery, storage, and enterprise file sync and share solutions; Dropsuite Cloud Backup for Office 365 which safeguards Exchange Online -- email files, attachments, calendars and tasks -- plus backs up SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams data; and Proofpoint, offering cloud-based cybersecurity and compliance solutions. Proofpoint’s technology enables organizations to protect their users from advanced attacks delivered via email, social media, and cloud applications, secure the information their users create, and respond quickly when incidents occur.

Pax8 has won 73 awards so far this year – and 55 last year -- for its lineup of products that make life easier for the MSP. Walsh said all of the new additions adhere to that award winning tradition by putting an MSP’s practice at the fore, by offering a single portal where the user can control products for multiple customers.

“Something that cuts across all the vendors we added is they’re MSP focused,” Walsh said. “

“Many of these, they have what we refer to as multi tenancy, which means they’ve built their solution with an MSP in mind. One person who manages their customer and multiple customer’s environment. They want to go into one portal, set up a policy, apply it to multiple customers. Rather than, what you used to do, log into a vendors portal, set it up for Customer 1, log out, go back in to Customer 2. Let’s say you have 50, 100 customers. That becomes unmanageable.”
