Startup Komprise Joins HPE Complete Program, Offers Data Management Tech For HPE Partners

Komprise also makes key sales and engineering executive hires as company ramps up sales efforts and expands field operations.

Big data software developer Komprise has joined Hewlett Packard Enterprise's HPE Complete program through which the startup's intelligent data management platform will be sold by HPE's own sales force, combined with the vendor's scale-out storage systems, and be available for HPE channel partners.

Komprise has also made a pair of key executive hires as the Campbell, Calif.-based company ramps up sales. The company has hired Chris Moore as senior vice president of worldwide sales and Randy Hopkins as vice president of global systems engineering and enablement.

Komprise's software analyzes data usage throughout an organization's storage environment and archives, and replicates and moves "cold" or seldom-used data from high-cost primary NAS (network attached storage) systems to lower cost, long-term storage systems without disruption.

"It's a modern way to manage data without all the issues of the past," said Krishna Subramanian, Komprise chief operating officer and one of its co-founders, of the company's product that began shipping two years ago.

HPE and Komprise are already technology partners, working jointly when customers implement the two companies' products. Under the new global alliance, Komprise's software will be available through the HPE Complete program through which products from strategic vendor partners are validated to work with HPE's own server and storage products and made available for sale through HPE's sales representatives and channel partners in the Americas and EMEA region.

"This makes it simpler for the HPE channel to resell and work with the Komprise product," Subramanian said. "This takes it to the next level because [partners] can do everything through HPE."

Subramanian added that solution providers can come to Komprise for training if they choose.

"Komprise's data management platform provides exceptional analytics capabilities and highly flexible management of data assets, enabling more efficient on-premises and hybrid-cloud architectures," said Marty Lans, general manager of storage connectivity and HPE Complete, in a statement. "Our collaboration with Komprise extends our focus on helping our customers create solid infrastructures to manage and unlock the true potential of their data."

The alliance is similar to a deal Komprise struck with IBM in May 2018 under which IBM resells Komprise's software combined with its storage product portfolio. And in September 2018 the Komprise software was made available through the Microsoft Azure marketplace and received the Co-Sell Ready designation through the Microsoft One Commercial Partner Program.

In addition to its technology partners Komprise operates its own Konnect Partner Program and Konnect deal registration program.

"Our big focus in the company right now is scaling sales and marketing to meet demand," Subramanian said. "We are rapidly scaling our field operations."

Hence the company's recent executive hires. Moore's resume includes sales leadership positions in a number of startups including Codenvy, Kace Networks, AvantGo and Genesys. Hopkins' background includes systems engineering management posts at Pure Storage and Nimble Storage.

Komprise raised $24 million in a Series C round of funding in February with Western Digital joining as a strategic investor.
